Hudson Design is a collaborative and passionate design studio, built on a foundation of love for design and the built environment. Our team is dedicated to thoughtful details, creating environments where clients can appreciate every carefully made decision and the way it positively impacts their lives. Whether we are tackling a historic restoration or a new construction project, as Architects in the Hudson Valley, we approach each project with a reverence for the natural world, and how we craft our place in it.
Founded by James “Jamie” M. Copeland in 1986 on Fifth Avenue, Hudson Design firm has grown to offer a full suite of design and construction services—from architecture and interior design to construction management. Under one roof we can put your lifestyle on paper via floor plans, oversee your renovation or new construction from the ground up, and help you choose fixtures, furnishings and finishes that feel like home. And we’ll enjoy every moment of it. As Jamie says, “If you find your passion, and find a way to serve other people with that passion, it’s not work.”
Hudson Design’s Outreach and Community Involvement
Sailing Excursions with Captain Copeland
Jamie is passionate about giving back. In his free time, he invites inner-city students on multi-day sailing excursions. These trips, which have included students from San Miguel Academy of Newburgh and Chicago Hope Academy, teach real-world lessons in trust, teamwork and responsibility in a new and challenging environment. The Hudson Design team even gets to join in on the fun sometimes!
Chamber of Commerce
With our recent move to 3052 Route 9, Hudson Design is back to it’s original stomping ground in Cold Spring. We recently joined Cold Spring’s Chamber of Commerce serving the communities that make up the Town of Philipstown. We recently hosted a Chamber breakfast at our new studio and look forward to contributing to their mission of promoting local commerce and community through advocacy, organization and gatherings.
School Field Trips: "Day in the Life..."
To inspire the next generation of architects and design professionals, we welcome local schools for office tours and presentations. Students gain a deeper understanding of the collaborative design process and have the opportunity to ask questions, receive project critiques and hear personal stories from our team.
