Historic Homestead
The Historic Homestead traces its origins to 1810, when the foundations of the DeRham residence were laid, establishing a formal center hall plan with parlor, dining, and living rooms on the main floor. Fifty years later, a ballroom was added to the west and mansard roofs crowned the entire structure. Our restoration and renovation honored this layered history while reimagining the home for contemporary living.
The main stair was recreated to open onto the center hall. The former ballroom was converted into a generous dine-in kitchen and entertaining area with views to the Hudson River and Constitution Island, while the mansard cavity above was transformed into the master bedroom with a west-facing balcony. Period detailing and wide-plank old-growth wood floors were restored and replicated throughout, and intricate brick chimneys were rebuilt with artisan copper flashing.
New amenities include a circular entrance drive aligned with the front door, pool with built-in spa, pool house gym, garage, wine cellar, sunken garden, and a nature trail to Constitution Marsh. All plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems were replaced with current equipment and technologies
