Hudson Fisheries Barge

The Hudson Fisheries Trust, based in Upper Nyack, NY, preserves the history, skills, and traditions of Hudson River commercial fishing families. Its centerpiece, the Hudson Fisheries Barge Museum, is a replica turn-of-the-century fishing barge featuring a fishing camp, interactive exhibits, gallery, and media center. Traveling along the Hudson, the museum brings traditional boatbuilding, netmaking, and fishing methods to riverfront communities, transforming local waterfronts into immersive Hudson River fishing villages. This mobile museum celebrates cultural heritage, educates the public, and ensures the legacy of the region’s commercial fishery continues for future generations.

Garrison Yacht Club Pavillion

The Garrison Yacht Club is planning to build a pavilion at its current dock and harbor facilities across the Hudson River from West Point Military Academy.  The new pavilion will provide for dining and entertainment functions and will give members and their guests unobstructed views of the River and Harbor.  The pavilion is designed to incorporate the existing earth and masonry causeway and the club’s ceremonial flagstaff.  The project became possible when the existing aging piers needed to be replaced.  The newer, longer piers allow for the new dock and 2nd floor to be built in the same location as the existing dock. The Pavilion’s design is suggestive of a yacht’s design with elements such as an aft deck located in the entrance of the pavilion’s first floor, the bridge at the 2nd floor rear and the stern pointing toward the river.

Valatie Free Library

As in many small communities, the local Library in Valatie, NY, is a clearing house of information and a sort of “pub” for intellectual stimulation. Our charge was to relocate this important resource from a former two bedroom house into a historic railway warehouse. Our design utilized the two story interior by introducing a mezzanine and restoring the exposed wood trusses. Other features included a media room, computer lab, sound deadening and private meeting rooms as well as 16′ high stack areas for books
